This month is our first in our IxDA/Interact Summer Series beyond touch with Steve Seow talking about:  Touch and Beyond: Some things change and some things don’t. The psychology of future interactions.(http://www.stevenseow.com/ )

Abstract:
Some things change, and some things don’t. At Microsoft Surface, we have tested hundreds of users with countless design explorations and prototypes over the years. The design, the interaction model, the software and hardware technologies, and even the business have unavoidably and necessarily evolved, but in this dynamic multidimensional evolution, one factor stood as a constant—the psychology behind the core user interaction. We’ve pooled together years of quantitative and qualitative data, observation notes, and other information and distilled them down to a set of nine constants we called Surface Usability Maxims. These are what we believe hold true not just for Microsoft Surface and for touch computing, but also for any new interaction paradigm that may emerge in the future because… well, some things change, and some things don’t.

Come join the fun with Interact IxDA.

STEPHEN P. ANDERSON: The Art & Science of Seductive Interactions

How can we design interactions that encourage specific behaviors?
A while back, LinkedIn experimented with a feature: a little meter above the users? information, showing their profile?s ?percentage completed.? Suddenly, more users filled out their profiles. The feature didn?t have a clever interface, a sophisticated information architecture, or show any technical prowess. It just leveraged basic [...]
